Taylor Kitsch Is "Not Playing Finnick"

The LA Times is now reporting that Taylor Kitsch, one of the front runners, is not interested in playing Finnick.

“Not going to happen,” the 31-year-old actor wrote in an email on Wednesday. Kitsch, who is coming off the poor box office performance of the big-budget films “John Carter” and “Battleship,” would seem to have fit the bill for the athletic, good-looking character.
As for “The Lone Ranger” star Hammer and “TRON: Legacy” lead Hedlund, the studio behind the franchise, Lionsgate, said it would not confirm, deny or comment on any casting in progress.

The same happened with Robert Pattinson having to stop all the rumors. 

Hunger Games Cast to Attend MTV Movie Awards June 3

The MTV Movie Awards are this Sunday and Hunger Games has been nominated 9 times, but who will be there to see the possible victory or loss? Thanks to promo videos on YouTube, we can now say that Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Elizabeth Banks will all be in attendance. Since Liam has been nominated for Breakthrough performance and has done promos, he is also probably going to be in attendance.

The MTV Movie Awards will air live on Sunday June 3 at 9 pm et on MTV.

Jackie Emerson Referred to as Foxface In Public

Jackie Emerson was featured in Glamoholic recently. The interview mainly discusses her music but Hunger Games does come up.

On Gary Ross’ departure from The Hunger Games…“I’m shocked, he did such a great job with the first one. I really wish he was coming back but I am sure who ever they get is going to be fabulous and do a really great job.”
On being referred to as Foxface in public…“It’s happened to me a couple of times and I’m always like, oh wait, that’s me sorry!”
On relating to Foxface…“I do [relate to Foxface], in the sense that I think if I was actually in The Hunger Games I would quote on quote “Pull a Fox-face” because I would probably be running and hiding a lot. There would not be a lot of killing on my part.”

Kristen Stewart Wouldn't Mind If "Hunger Games" Won Best Kiss

The MTV Movie Awards are Sunday and everyone can't wait to see if The Hunger Games will beat out Twilight (who has won the past four years) in the category of best kiss. While doing promotion for Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart was asked about the "battle" for best kiss and competition with the next big franchise, Hunger Games. 

When asked if she had any fighting talk for Jennifer and Josh, Kristen told MTV.co.uk: “I don’t know. For the last few years it was ‘The Twilight Show’ and it was bizarre and this year’s gonna be fun. It’s gonna be like ‘Oh good, something different! Please God, something different’.
“I would love to see them go up there and I would love to see how someone else dealt with it to be honest. It’s like ‘are you gonna do it?’, ‘are you gonna give it to them’.”
She added: “If we didn’t win, I would actually be stoked to see like how it all goes down and how they handle it.”

Idris Elba Rumored To Play Chaff in Catching Fire

We've been hearing a lot about the castings for Finnick and Johanna, but not a lot about some other victors that are going back into the arena! It has been rumored that Idris Elba is going to be playing Chaff. Chaff is the district 11 male tribute in the 45 and 75 Hunger Games. We know that he lost half of his arm during the games, refused a new arm, and friends with Haymitch.

Finnick Casting Going On; Audition Scenes Revealed!!!

Zap2it is saying that E! may have jumped the gun with the final three possible Finnicks already in order. An unnamed source close to the site reveals that castings for Finnick are currently going on and what scenes the possible Finnicks will have to perform.

Zap2it’s source says nobody’s in the lead just yet considering talks only began on Tuesday (May 29). Actors are still reading for the role, and the studio is strongly considering bringing in an unknown to avoid ego clashes on set. It’s easy to understand the mix-up — someone probably got their hands on the confidential memo going around that reveals the three men are currently on the shortlist of dudes we’d love to marry in a fantasy dream world. (Honestly, any list with those three guys on it is a win-win-win situation.)
The scenes the actors are reportedly reading for the role include the sugar cube scene where Finnick first meets Katniss and the scene where he hears Annie’s scream.

It looks like casting is in full swing! I'm really happy that they picked both of those scenes. The sugar cube scene because it is one of my favorites and shows his personality so well, and the Annie's scream scene because it takes a really good actor to pull that off and it also introduces us to Finnick's lover, Annie.

Liam Hemsworth To Receive the AIF Breakthrough Award

Liam Hemsworth as been chosen as the co winner of the 2012 AIF Breakthrough Award. This award honors Australian actors for their international success that will be given at a benefit dinner in LA  on June 27, 2012.

Hemsworth’s breakout performance was in The Hunger Games, which has now grossed more than $650 million worldwide and is the second most popular film so far this year in Australia, having sold more than $30 million worth of tickets.
He is expected to also appear in the sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and is also attached to Paranoia, alongside Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford, Arabian Nights, with Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Hopkins,and The Expendables 2, with Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Jet Li. Liam is younger than both his brothers Chris and Luke, who are also actors.

Does Lionsgate Have Three Finnicks Narrowed Down?

One of the biggest casting decisions, other than Johanna, is Finnick. According to E! Online, Lionsgate has their top three narrowed down and they are all fan favorites!

A source tells us at that the top three names being bantered about right now are Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch and Garrett Hedlund.The source also says that a final decision from the studio may be announced as early as this week.
However, another source says the studio may also be looking at unknowns à la Brad Pitt in Thelma & Louise.
Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall with Francis Lawrence taking over the directing reigns from Gary Ross.
Reps for the three did not comment.
A Lionsgate rep said, “As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce.”

However, Josh Horowitz spoke with Taylor Kitsch about the role, and Taylor said he wasn't interested. All casting news should be taking as a rumor right now.

Robert Pattinson Reacts to "Catching Fire" Rumors

You probably already seen the rumors about Robert Pattinson and Catching Fire. It seemed that Lionsgate was going after Robert Pattinson for the role of Finnick.  We tried to ignore it, but his response was that he was as surprised as the fans!

“I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games,” Pattinson tells USA TODAY. “I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent.”
The response?
“My agent was like, ‘No,’ ” Pattinson reports.
“(My agent) was like no one’s going to offer you that part,” Pattinson says, breaking into a laugh. “I was like, thanks for the reassurance.”

So, the truth has come! Robert Pattinson isn't playing Finnick or being asked to play the role.

Everyone seems to be focused on Finnick, but Johanna is also an important character to be cast! Eliza Coupe wants to play Johanna. She is best know as Jane on Happy Endings. 

“I’ve read all the books, I’m obsessed,” Coupe, 31, told us. “I wanted to be in the second ‘Hunger Games’ so bad as Johanna Mason.”

But, she must be able to handle all her other projects? So, can she even audition?

 “We’re filming at the exact same time, so I can’t — I say that like it’s an option,” laughed Eliza. “I’m sure they don’t even know who I am!”

Prices are just suggested retail prices, but they will probably be much less at stores or online. I am so excited to see this movie again so I can watch it over and over. Plus, it will give me a chance to look for some hidden things or pay more attention to the minor characters.

The Hunger Games has been set to release in June in China. A new press release tells us that it will also be screened in IMAX theaters.

"Hunger Games" Sequel Gets Slight Name Change

After the huge success of The Hunger Games, even people that haven't previously been a fan have now been waiting for November 2013. This highly anticipated will be getting a name change.

Lionsgate has announced a minor title change for the second part of their blockbuster franchise. Formerly titled Catching Fire, the Francis Lawrence-directed sequel to this year’s The Hunger Games will now be called The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

This change was probably made to make sure everyone knew that this was the second movie and we can probably expect that the final movie will be The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.

Hunger Games Disney Style: Your Favorite Characters in Panem

This is super cool! This version of the "Hunger Games", which features Disney characters, was created by Mae Uy.  

 Check out the descriptions from the website:

District 1 (Luxury) - Aladdin & Jasmine. I had to choose characters who represented luxury, at the same time intimidating enough to be Careers. With themes like greed & temptation (Cave of Wonders) and Aladdin's misguided notion that love can be won with power and riches, they seemed to be a good fit.District 2 (Masonry) - Shang & Mulan Shang and Mulan is the only Disney couple who are both military trained, so it makes sense they belong in the District that specializes in weapons and Capitol soldiers. Also, I can def see them as Careers.
District 3 (Technology) - Milo & Kida. Who else imagined Beetee to look like Milo in the books? I did! I know Atlantis isn't one of the more popular movies, but Milo and Kida fit in so well that I couldn't leave them out! Plus the movie's steam punk vibe totally fits the HG!
District 4 (Fishing) - Eric & Ariel. Need I say more?
District 5 (Power) - Hercules & Meg Power has a triple meaning here. In the books, it refers to electricity, which goes hand in hand with the God of Thunder's son. The second meaning is physical power, which Hercules possesses. Thirdly, the movie is all about the power of love, which is what drove Meg to sacrifice her life for Herc, and vice versa.
District 6 (Transportation) - Naveen & Tiana. I thought of transportation here in an abstract sense. Of the Disney movies, the Princess and the Frog was the one that focused most on the concept of journey: the literal journey from the town to the Bayou and back, the emotional journey from ambition/greed to love, and the transformational journey from frog to human.
District 7 (Lumber) - Tarzan & Jane. I know lumber comes from the forest and Tarzan is set in the jungle but SHUSH! It fits okay???
District 8 (Textile) - Charming & Cinderella. Cinderella is basically a story about how a maid snagged a prince because she was wearing a nice outfit. Textiles = cloth = outfit. So there.
District 9 (Grain) - Beast & Belle. This was the hardest to place. Beast and Belle fit NONE of the Districts, but they fell into the category of "how angry fans would be if I didn't include him/her." I tried to justify it by thinking that grain = seed = rose? Contrived but there you go. By the way... in this world, Beast is a muttation. When he was a child, he was affected by some radiation or whatever, but it only affected his physical appearance so he's still eligible to compete in the HG.
District 10 (Livestock) - Quasimodo & Esmeralda. Nothing too deep...I thought of Esmeralda's goat and that was enough for me. Why not Phoebus? Because I hate him.
District 11 (Agriculture) - John Smith & Pocahontas. Corn!
District 12 (Mining) - "The Prince" & Snow White. The dwarfs were miners! Close enough! Oh and here's some trivia for you. People think Cinderella and Snow White's princes were both named "Charming" but actually, SW's prince has never been referred to as such. He's simply "the Prince."

10 Movie Mistakes in "Hunger Games"

Through all the editing, some mistakes make their way into the theater and it takes a careful eye to spot them. The Hunger Games is no exception and Hollywood Dane spotted ten of them.

When Katniss, Peeta and Cato are on top of the Cornucopia near the end of the film, she aims an arrow at Cato while he has Peeta in a headlock. Katniss has her arrow fletchings on backwards. This would prevent her from shooting straight.
*As the 12 chariots carrying the tributes roll through the stadium, fans throw flowers as they pass. When all the chariots have reached the end of the roadway, an overhead shot reveals a clean and spotless runway.
*Peeta throws the giant metal ball to win intimidation as Clove, Cato and Marvel watch. After they see him toss the ball, Clove and Glimmer have switched places.
*When Peeta smears the cream on Katniss’ cut she received while getting the medicine at The Feast, he wipes away the wound makeup making it look like the it is days old/healed.
*The number of arrows available for Katniss to use while being evaluated changes. She is given four, uses one and misses her target. She turns back to grab another arrow and four arrows are still available for her to use.

Hunger Games Blu Ray/DVD Coming August 18!!

The Hunger Games DVD/ Blu Ray is set to release on August 18! It will be released on a 2 disc set with both a Blu Ray and DVD with "over three hours of unreleased material, with features that provide insight into how the film was made, interviews with the cast and crew, and details about some of the story lines that differed from the book"

The two-disc set will include over three hours of unreleased material, with features that provide insight into how the film was made, interviews with the cast and crew, and details about some of the story lines that differed from the book — like President Snow’s character (Donald Sutherland) and the role of the game maker (Wes Bentley). An eight-part documentary entitled The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games delves into the behind-the-scenes aspect of creating the film. The extras also include the full-length “Propaganda Film” shown during the Reaping.By releasing the Blu-Ray/DVD at midnight, Lionsgate hopes to recapture the excitement from the midnight theatrical screening back in March. “The motion picture event of the year is poised to become the home entertainment event of the year, and with a midnight launch and midnight retail events scheduled at stores around the country, we expect to replicate the same level of consumer excitement generated by the film’s theatrical debut,” said Ron Schwartz, Lionsgate Executive Vice President & General Manager, Home Entertainment.

Josh Hutcherson just bought a $3 million Hollywood Hills mansion, previously owned by Heath Ledger. The 1,861 sq ft tree house, because of the trees surrounding it, has been owned by lots of celebs like Ellen DeGeneres. The 2 bedroom 2 bath house was listed last September for $2.995 million, but we don't know if Josh paid the full price.

District 12 Up For Auction, Featured On SyFy's "Hollywood Treasures" On June 5

As we said previously, The Henry River Mill Village (District 12) is going to be featured on SyFy's show Hollywood Treasures. Now, thanks to Profiles From History, we learned that the episode will be released June 5 at 10 pm pdt. The property will also be auctioned off via sealed bid, through Joe Maddalena, the host of Hollywood Treasures.

LOS ANGELES, MAY 21 – Profiles in History run by Joe Maddalena, announced today that it has acquired the Henry River Mill Village property, known to all as “District 12” from the box office blockbuster The Hunger Games. The property will be auctioned off via sealed bid through Profiles in History with a bidding deadline of July 31, 2012. The property is valued in excess of 1.2 million dollars.This unique acquisition as Joe Maddalena has said, “Is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” and will be shown on Syfy’s hit show Hollywood Treasure on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 10PM PDT. Viewers will be able to watch Joe and his team visiting “District 12,” meeting with the owner and watch as Joe is able to get the owner to entrust him to sell this ‘collectors dream’. The new season of Hollywood Treasure premieres this Tuesday, May 22 on Syfy at 10PM PDT.
“District 12” is in reality the Henry River Mill Village, a 1920s, 72-acre abandoned mill town located in North Carolina. The CW is developing a new show called "The Selection", a Hunger Games -esque show. Aimee Teegarden has been already cast to play the lead. "The Hunger Games" and "The Selection" both have similar themes in that both feature a young girl in a dystopian war torn nation who is chosen by a lottery for the opportunity to gain fame and fortune against a background of hunger and poverty. However, "The Selection" has the competition of winning the hand of a prince, not killing other teens.

Amandla Stenberg Chats With Winning Class in Scholastic's Skype Contest

In January, Scholastic started a contest for teachers in grades 6-12 who bought The Hunger Games book through a classroom order. All the classes were entered into the contest for a Skype session with one of the stars of the film.The lucky winners, students from Tabitha Rosales 6th Grade Homeroom at Irelend Elementary School in Odessa, Texas chatted with Amandla Stenberg, who plays Rue. Everyone was shocked for this amazing opportunity!

“Oh, I thought she was kidding at first,” Ireland Elementary Student, Javorian Jackson, said.
“I kept thinking this is not real…” Ireland Elementary 6th grade teacher, Tabitha Rosales, said.
On Friday, students got a chance to talk to Amandla one on one and ask her questions, about how the movie was made, what she liked the most and about the other characters. Overall, the kids loved the experience and will never forget it.
“I’m excited, I am sad that it’s over now but it was really awesome! I loved it,” Ireland Elementary Student, Audrey Lujan, said.
“I learned a lot of stuff I wouldn’t know,” Ireland Elementary Student, Alexis Ramirez, said.

Alexander Ludwig To Participate In The 24 Hour Plays Benefit

Alexander Ludwig will be participating in the 24 Hour Plays Benefit, a live performance where, "the entire creative process, from writing to directing and finally performance, will take place in under 24 hours!”

The creative process of THE 24 HOUR PLAYS in Los Angeles will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15th. Six writers, six directors, twenty-four actors, a musical guest and production team will meet at The Broad Stage, Santa Monica (1310 11th Street, Santa Monica CA). Each cast member will brainstorm ideas before the writers begin composing the plays, which must be completed by 6:00 a.m. the next morning. With only twelve hours to rehearse, the actors will perform the six new plays, interspersed with musical acts, for one night only before a live audience, on Saturday June 16, 2012.

Sasha Alexander, Jason Biggs, Josh Dallas, Brooklyn Decker, and Ginnifer Goodwin will also be participating in the benefit. The proceeds benefit Urban Arts Partnership, that works to advance the intellectual, social, and artistic development of undeserved public school students.

Forbes releases an annual list with the most powerful celebrities, which is very fun to read, Celebrity 100 is the top honor in the industry and not something overlooked. While Collins is not one of the most powerful, she is one of the rising stars to watch for her debut on the list.

Author Suzanne Collins has a good chance of making the list next year. There are more than 36 million copies of her Hunger Games trilogy in print and the film based on the first book has earned $620 million at the global box office. Collins will get a tiny slice of the profit from the film but it could be enough to land her on our list.

Olympian Khatuna Lorig Talks About Training Jennifer Lawrence

E! Online interviewed Khatuna Lorig while she trained for the 2012 Olympics in London. She talked about preparing for the Olympics, training Jennifer Lawrence, and her thoughts about how well she did.

“I got a call that some actress needed to learn how to shoot an arrow,” she explained. “They didn’t tell me much about it…I was asked to make her shoot like a professional.”
The result was daily hourlong training sessions on the very field that Lorig’s own Olympics training is now taking place.
“Who was she? I had no idea,” she said, explaining that it was her own mother who informed her of the status of her A-list trainee. Her reaction?
“Oh my God, I’m working with a star!” She quickly got up to speed on the Hunger Games series, saying, “I started reading it and got hooked right away.” Which means both she and Lawrence were doing their homework, with the fruits of Jennifer’s labor evident onscreen.
“She did really good,” Lorig explained, praising Lawrence’s believability above other onscreen archers.
“We did not laugh at her,” she said, going on to name no names of those she and her Olympic teammates might’ve spared a chuckle or two for. Still, as good as Lawrence is, Lorig has set her sights on helping the starlet achieve perfection, saying she’d love to continue her training and make her “even more glamorous with a bow.”

Netflix Will Stream "Hunger Games" 90 Days After EPIX

As we reported earlier, EPIX has gained the exclusive streaming rights when it is released on DVD/Blu Ray. Netflix will have to wait until after to make it available for streaming. They will not have the movie until 90 days after EPIX.

Netflix gets streaming access to the year’s biggest box office hits, The Hunger Games and The Avengers, beginning in early 2013 — but only 90 days after their releases on disc and Epix, reps for Netflix and the multiplatform pay-channel confirmed.
Online scuttlebutt had suggested that since Netflix and Epix signed an exclusive streaming deal in 2010 — an agreement that doesn’t expire until September — Netflix could have SVOD access toThe Hunger Games as early as this fall and The Avengers in early 2013.
The movies’ impressive theatrical runs portend successful retail releases both physically and digitally. That prospect puts lower margin SVOD on the low end of the distibution foodchain.

ABC Family also has the rights to The Hunger Games but it will start 30 months after the release in theaters. No DVD/Blu Ray release date has been set, but the rumour is that it will be out in August or September. This could mean that it would be available on Netflix before the end of the year.

Finnick is "Dream Role" for Trevor Donovan

The 90210 actor now wants to be the part of Finnick Odair, which is the most talked about role for the next movie. He has been endorsed by Perez Hilton and said:

I’m humbled and honored, but most of all excited, because Mario [Lavandeira, a.k.a. Perez] is a good guy. All actors have a dream role; playing Finnick Odair is mine. I know the odds are stacked against me. I’ll be going up against big stars like Zac Efron and Armie Hammer, but you know what, I want it more and am very passionate about it, it’s not just another job to me, it’s much more than that. I’m not saying that it is for them. I was a fan before anyone knew the Hunger Games series would be made into movies.  I read all the books the day they first came out and knew right there and then I wanted to play Finnick. I’m definitely the underdog in this race, but I’m committed and going to give it all I’ve got. As Effie Trinket says, “May the odds be ever in your favor.”

Taylor Swift Releases Music Video for "Eyes Open"

Taylor Swift did two songs for the Hunger Games soundtrack: Safe & Sound (which the music video has already been released) and Eyes Open which is a very popular song and the music video has been released.

It doesn't seem like they show many Hunger Games references except for some words being on fire and sword fights.

NECA to Release a Second Set of "Hunger Games" Figurines

NECA has announced a second wave of "The Hunger Games" figurines. This new set will feature training Katniss, training Peeta, arena Rue, and arena Cato. We don't have an official release date set, but Cool Toy Review predicts that they will be out in August.


These look amazingly like Jennifer, Josh, Amandla, and Alexander! It's really cool and creepy... but I know that I'll be purchasing these when they hit shelves!
