Elizabeth Banks Talks Her Memorable Awards Moment and Thanks Her Fans

Elizabeth Banks probably had one of the best moments of the MTV Movie Awards when she was given her golden popcorn for Best Movie Transformation by Magic Mike. Elizabeth talks about that moment and more in an interview with Josh Horowitz backstage at the MTV Movie Awards.

Though she was honored by the award, Banks had only one thing on her mind when MTV News’ Josh Horowitz asked for her reaction to the statuette. “I’m a little parched, yeah. I need some water!” Banks exclaimed with a laugh. Perhaps it wasn’t just the win that had her dry-mouthed, but Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello, who presented her with the Golden Popcorn.
“Honestly, thank God I had those guys up there so I could make a little bit of it. I just wanted to have fun with it,” she said.
Unfortunately, Banks remembered that she forgot to thank one important group. “I didn’t thank the fans,” Banks said. “See, you just reminded me. I forgot to thank the fans. It’s all about the fans. Oh, well. Thank you fans!”

Leven Rambin Wants You To Vote for Hunger Games at the MTV Movie Awards

The MTV Movie Awards are tomorrow night (voting ends at 10 PM) but there is still time to vote and that is exactly what Leven Rambin wants you to do!

“All the fans that saw the ‘Hunger Games’ — they came out to all the events, they came out to the malls and the premiere and they camped [out],” Rambin told MTV News. “This was the first movie in our franchise and you guys showed so much love and hard-core dedication, so please give our little movie some votes this year.”
The film is vying for a Golden Popcorn against the likes of “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ and the last “Harry Potter” flick, so Rambin knows the competition is stiff. “We know we’re the underdog and we’re the new kids and we really pushed through,” she said. “We made a great movie and you guys were awesome the whole time. So vote for ‘Hunger Games’ [for] Best Cast and I’m sure we’ll be there to receive our honors. Thank you for your support.”
If you want to help them win, make sure to vote in all 9 categories here.

Kristen Stewart Wouldn't Mind If "Hunger Games" Won Best Kiss

The MTV Movie Awards are Sunday and everyone can't wait to see if The Hunger Games will beat out Twilight (who has won the past four years) in the category of best kiss. While doing promotion for Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart was asked about the "battle" for best kiss and competition with the next big franchise, Hunger Games.

“I would love to see them go up there and I would love to see how someone else dealt with it to be honest. It’s like ‘are you gonna do it?’, ‘are you gonna give it to them’.”
She added: “If we didn’t win, I would actually be stoked to see like how it all goes down and how they handle it.”

Suzanne Collins One of the Most Powerful Moms

In honor of Mother's Day, Working Mother Magazine put together a list of the top ten most powerful moms of 2012 and Suzanne Collins earned a spot.

Suzanne Collins
Most Powerful Mom: Children’s Literature Star
Author
Children: Son, 17, Daughter, 12
Suzanne Collins seems ubiquitous these days, with the kid-lit mantle proverbially passed to her by J.K. Rowling. Her bestselling book series, The Hunger Games trilogy, is still breaking records; and now there’s a blockbuster movie inspired by the first book—with more to come. Collins began her career working for children’s television, ultimately becoming the head writer for the PBS show Clifford’s Puppy Days. She also wrote children’s books including The Underland Chronicles and When Charlie McButton Lost Power.
But it was The Hunger Games that struck gold for the mom of two: The first book was released in 2008; the second, Catching Fire, in 2009 and the third, Mockingjay, in 2010. The Hunger Games trilogy of books has been on the New York Times bestseller list more than 130 consecutive weeks. And amazon.com announced this year that Collins had become the best-selling Kindle author of all time. Lions Gate Entertainment acquired worldwide distribution rights to a film adaptation of The Hunger Games, and Collins adapted the book for the screen herself. The move went on to shatter records and had one of the highest gross opening weekends in movie history. Time magazine named Collins one of 2012’s Most Influential People in the World.
Press-shy Collins said last year: “I’m not a very fancy person. I’ve been a writer a long time, and right now The Hunger Games is getting a lot of focus. It’ll pass. The focus will be on something else. It’ll shift. It always does. And that seems just fine.” Modest words for one of the most powerful women in the world.

Victoria's Secret: Jennifer Lawrence Has Sexiest Eyes

Victoria's Secret has put together a list of "What's Sexy" featuring celebrities. USA Today has the list and Jennifer Lawrence has won the award for sexiest eyes.
Apparently, the eyes have it when it comes to Lawrence, 21, who showed off pretty much every aspect of her physique in The Hunger Games this spring.
What do you think about the list?

Elizabeth Banks Honored at Maui Film Festival

Elizabeth Banks will be heading to Hawaii next month to be honored at the Maui Film Festival. Her new movie People Like Us will also be screened before she is honored with the Navigator Award.

The Navigator Award honors a film artist for carving a path of distinction through the turbulent waters of the entertainment industry without sacrificing his or her fundamental commitment to excellence, according to the festival.
Although still in her 30s, Banks has already compiled a long and diverse string of roles in films stretching from independent offbeat comedies to huge box-office blockbusters.
Calling Banks the embodiment of what the award stands for, festival Director Barry Rivers said: “We couldn’t be more pleased to honor her at this year’s festival, especially in the heavenly setting of the Celestial Cinema.”
While Banks can currently be seen playing Effie Trinket in the box-office hit “The Hunger Games,” the festival will show another side of her talent for mixing comedy and drama in “People Like Us.” Inspired by true events in a family, the film also stars Chris Pine, Michael Hall D’Addario, Philip Baker Hall, Mark Duplass, Michelle Pfeiffer and recipient of the Maui Film Festival’s 2011 Shining Star award, Olivia Wilde.
Banks plays the sister Pine’s character never knew he had in this touching story of how families come apart and get put back together again.
Marc Malkin will be doing a Q&A.

Jennifer Lawrence is #1 on LoveFiLM's 2012 Top Actresses Under 30 List

Jennifer Lawrence is number one of LoveFiLM's list of 2012 top actresses under 30. She was also number one last year. She beat out top actresses like Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightly, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone, and Kristen Stewart. The site explain why they chose Jennifer as number one:
Combining down to earth grit, subtlety and resourcefulness, Lawrence already seems more mature and capable than most of her peers. She topped our list last year in part because of her astonishing, Academy Award-nominated performance in Winter’s Bone, and also because she had snagged the hotly contested lead in The Hunger Games, which we correctly noted was poised to become a Twilight sized smash. X-Men First Class doesn’t hurt either. La Lawrence has kept up the pace and then some. Later this year she has three films ready for release, the domestic horror The House at the End of the Street, with Elizabeth Shue, a minor role in the thriller Devil You Know (starring Lena Olin), and two potential prestige pictures, Susanne Bier’s Serena, costarring Bradley Cooper (and likely set for Spring 2013 in the UK) and David O Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook, again with Cooper, plus Robert De Niro, Julia Stiles, Chris Tucker and another up and coming young actress, Taylor Schilling. According to reports Lionsgate is also in talks for Lawrence to star in an adaptation of best-selling memoir The Glass Castle – and of course there are sequels to X Men First Class and Hunger Games coming soon.
Congratulations to Jennifer!
