Catching Fire Announcement!!

Hunger Games hasn't even been released yet and we already are getting news on the sequel, Catching Fire. Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) is writing the script. Gary Ross, who directed the Hunger Games, will also be directing Catching Fire as well as helping with the writing of the script. I hope that Suzanne Collins also helps write the script! Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), Woody Harrelson (Haymitch), and Liam Hemsworth are expected to rejoin the cast. The release date for the sequel will be November 22, 2013.

I am super excited to see my two favorite characters, Johanna and Finnick, on the big screen!

By the way, I hope Logan Lerman gets cast as Finnick! He looks just like him!!

Happy Martin Luther King Jr Day!

First, Happy Martin Luther King Jr Day! I hope you had a great day off of school like I did! I went to the mall and did some great sale shopping!

On a more serious note, MLK did some seriously amazing things. Plus, some of his themes are also focused on in the Hunger Games. Here are some examples:

1. Living In a Society not based on any kind of skin color - This is so true in the Hunger Games. Not in the color of their skin, but in the money way. The entire fact of the tesserae is a way for the Capitol to judge people. The fact that Effie and Cinna getting District 12 because they are the poorest district. "What can you have? Five entries? I had six when I was just twelve years old. "That's not her fault," I say. "No, it's no one's fault. Just the way it is," says Gale. That is a direct quote from Hunger Games, page 12. It explains in every way how against the poor and rich are against each other. In the end, that division is the very thing that keeps the Capitol from falling. At the end, when they join together to fight, they win.

2. I Have a Dream - Many of the children in Panem can't afford to have dreams because they live in fear. From the ages of 12 - 18, they will be in the ball of names to be selected to be in the arena, fighting to their death.

Sorry, that's it! If you have any other similar themes, I would love to read them!

Vanity Fair Hunger Games Pics

I know I'm a little late on these but they are seriously some of the best pictures we have had of the Hunger Games!! I am so excited about the movie.

My all time favorite HG photo! From left to right, Clove, Marvel, Foxface, Thresh, Glimmer, Cato, Rue, Peeta, Katniss, and Gale. I have no idea why Gale is in this photo because he never stepped foot in the arena!  He doesn't even know half these people. Anyway, greatest picture ever!!

This is the ultimate Peeta vs. Gale photo ever. It also reminds me of Catching Fire for reasons, that if you stare at it long enough, it just looks that way. I'm not going to tell you. You have to figure it out yourself.

This picture is really pretty.

Another Peeta vs. Gale picture. It looks like they are about to fight.

What's your favorite picture?

Josh Hutcherson on the Hunger Games!

Josh Hutcherson
Photo: MTV News

Josh Hutcherson was at the People's Choice Awards this week. These are some parts of his interview with Access Hollywood.

On kissing costar Jennifer Lawrence: "Jennifer Lawrence is beautiful so I'm not going to complain. It was good." He also said "it was a fun time shooting." Who else can't wait for the cave scenes?

On the secrecy on set: "They kept a very tight set. They were strict about letting people on and off and they had black curtains up everywhere. So, they wanted to keep it locked down."

On fan's reactions: "They are the most loyal fans that exist, it's slightly intimidating but very exciting at the same time. I'm excited about it and very nervous." Don't worry, Josh, we are sure you will do a great job!

On Liam Hemsworth: "Me and Liam got along right away, we're good buds." He also said that they might end up as roommates. I wonder if he's met Miley Cyrus yet!

I love Josh!! So excited to see him as Peeta!

He was also interviewed by MTV:

On the finished movie: "I did ADR (Automated Dialogue Recording) yesterday, actually. I saw a good bit of the film yesterday; it looks good. I'm really excited. The music is insane. The sound design, the editing, everything is amazing. It's coming together great."

On the Cornucopia scene: "The scene with the Cornucopia, where we all first rush in to get the weapons and whatnot, the way (directer Gary Ross) has that scored and cut is so amazing. I can't wait for people to see it."

On the PG-13 Rating and the battle scenes: "Gary Ross does it. I can't give it all away, but he does it. It's a little trick. It looks great, and it still has the brutality that the book had, while being PG-13."

What did you think of the interview?

Capital Fashion Blog Post #1

Yeah! I am so excited to start finding crazy fashion pieces!! Let's get right into it!!
smock dye effect maxi dressSmock Dye Effect Maxi Dress - Justice $45.00
This dress is so brightly colored, that it kind of pains my eyes. If you were to cut off the little purple stripe at the bottom, I could very well see some crazy Capital person wearing this.

Bubble Puffer Coat Bubble Puffer Coat - Justice $69.00
The lime green color - wow! Plus, the fur lining on the hood. If the Capital isn't weather controlled, then this would be the perfect coat for them!

F5427 Heart Sunglasses - Forever 21, $5.80
Heart shaped sunglasses? These are like the coolest things ever! And they have a crazy shape and color, making them perfect for the people of Panem.

Yep, that's it! I will only do 3-4 per post. By the way, I love all of these clothing pieces and I would probably wear them. It's just because of the color that I think that Panem people would wear them. Also, no offense to any of these brands because I have stuff from every single one of these stores!

Capital Couture + New Series!!

New HG website!! Yes, this is one is Capital Couture and has tons of beauty tips for the people in the Capital. The website was recently released. The password is #lookyourbest. Like all websites for the Capital, remember that it is a .pn website, not .com. Cause in the future, .com websites don't exist!
The home screen is the password box. You type in the above password and you get a huge picture of some person from the Capitol. It looks like Effie to me. The website doesn't have much information on it right now. Scroll down a little bit, and you will find the email box. Make sure to put your email in so that when more info is published you can read it! According to the site, it will have tips, tricks, and trends you need to look your best.
Personally, I am kind of scared of these "tips" considering I do not want to look like a Capital person. However, these will be great for Halloween!

New Series: Yes, I am creating a new series on the blog. It will be all kinds of different fashion pieces that remind me of something that Capital people would wear. Be aware it will feature a ton of glitter and sparkles!!

Johanna Mason

They haven't casted her yet, so here is some fan art!

Name: Johanna Mason
Age: 20
Occupation: tribute, mentor
Home: District 7 (lumber)
Weapon: axes, deception
Fate: alive
Appears In: Catching Fire, Mockingjay
Mentioned: Hunger Games
Portrayed by: ?? (Kristen Bell wants too)

In her Hunger Games (68th , maybe), she pretending to be a weakling. She turned out to be a strong competitor.
Since I have the books with me, here are some quotes:

"To appear weak and frightened, to reassure the other tributes that he is no competition at all, and then to come out fighting. This worked very well for a girl, Johanna Mason, from District 7 a few years back. She seemed like a sniveling, cowardly fool that no one bothered about her until there were only a handful of contestants left. It turned out she could kill viciously. Pretty clever, the way she played it." - Katniss Everdeen, "The Hunger Games"

"Peeta and I had adjoining cells in the Capitol. We're very familiar with each other's screams." - Johanna Mason, "Mockingjay"

"Why not? ... It seems very fair to me. Snow even has a granddaughter. I vote yes." - Johanna Mason, "Mockingjay"

"If they really killed her like this, they'd probably have an uprising on their hands! Don't want that, do they? She throws back her head and shouts 'Whole country in rebellion? Wouldn't want anything like that?" - Johanna Mason, "Catching Fire"

"They can't hurt me. I'm not like the rest of you. There is no one left I love." - Johanna Mason, "Catching Fire"

"Jealously is certainly involved. I also think you're a little hard to swallow. With your tacky romantic drama and your defender-of-the-helpless act. Only it isn't an act, which makes you more unbearable. Please feel free to take this personally." - Johanna Mason to Katniss, "Catching Fire"

I'm not going to explain anymore because I think she is best explained in her quotes. I do write a Fanfiction about her, so go to the links page and find the link.

Plants in the Hunger Games

This post is inspired by my recent trip to Home Depot. I went to Home Depot looking for a light bulb for my Norwegian lamp but I came out with something totally different. So, I parked on the wrong side of the store so I have to walk to the other end where they have lamps. Right in the middle of an aisle, they have a huge cart and this cart has a sign on it. The sign says "Primroses! $1.98! Great for windowsills!" Well, right now I'm less concerned about my empty windowsill and I am more concerned about the fact that I just found the plant that Prim in the Hunger Games was named after. So, I bought it. Pictures!
The primrose I bought and some candles from Ikea that also happened to get in the picture.
The one that I bought happened to be bright pink but they have many more colors like white and yellow. So, what does everyone else's look like?

Rue - this plant mainly grows in South Asia and are about 20  cm tall. They are used for healing.

I might do more posts about where all the names came from but this was just for the people named after flowers! I know Latin so I might do one on all the Latin names!
