"The Hunger Games" #13 on All Time Domestic Chart, Passes "Deathly Hallows: Part 2"

The Hunger Games has now moved up to #13 on the all time domestic box office chart, passing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

The Hunger Games hasn't even finished it's run at the box offices yet, so this is really cool! Next is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with 402.1 million, which might be harder to pass. For worldwide, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is #3 with over a billion dollars, and it looks like The Hunger Games won't be coming close (they are currently #63!) Maybe Catching Fire and Mockingjay will be able to rank with Harry Potter.

As for the Twilight series, the highest one on the chart is Eclipse at #39.

Are you excited?

"The Hunger Games" To Be Released in China

Last fall, Lionsgate motion picture group president Joe Drake said, "The Hunger Games will be released in China." We haven't heard anything else about it, though. Bloomberg reports that Lionsgate's CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed the movie has been approved for release in China.

We got approved to be in China in cinema and that’s a big move for that movie,” Feltheimer said in a May 2 interview at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills, California.
The year’s biggest film to date has collected $603.5 million in worldwide sales without China, which follows North America and Japan in box-office receipts. Feltheimer didn’t discuss details such as the release date.Overseas sales of $228.5 million for “The Hunger Games” have lagged behind revenue in the U.S. because Suzanne Collins’ trilogy of young-adult books aren’t well known internationally, Feltheimer said. That will change by the time the second film, “Catching Fire,” is released next year, he said.
China is becoming more important to U.S. filmmakers as the country adds more movie theaters, loosens restrictions on Western films and seeks more co-productions. Box-office sales there increased 35 percent to $2 billion in 2011, according to the Motion Picture Association of America. U.S. receipts were $10.2 billion, according to the group.
Yeah for all the Chinese tributes! This could also help box office totals, which means this will be huge for The Hunger Games.

Could "The Lucky One" Beat "Hunger Games" Next Week?

This upcoming weekend, Zac Efron's new movie The Lucky One comes into theaters. The movie is a romance movie based upon Nicholas Sparks' novel of the same name. Could it beat The Hunger Games for the #1 spot? Think Like A Man is also coming into theaters. Each film is predicted to make $20 million in the debut. The Hunger Games is expected to drop in sales this coming week.

The Lucky One stars Zac Efron, who plays a solider who is protected by a photo of a unknown woman. This movie looks to draw woman, with males unlikely to attend. Think Like A Man is a comedy aiming towards African American women and some males.

Hunger Games - Third Week?

Hunger Games was a victor on Friday and it looks like it will win again this weekend, even against other popular movies like Titanic 3D and American Reunion. It only dropped 31% from last week.
That puts the movie on pace for a $32 million weekend, and means that Katniss should reach $300 million domestically by Sunday night. If that happens, The Hunger Games will have reached $300 million in 17 days, tying Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith as the sixth-fastest movie to hit that figure.
American Reunion looks to make $22 million and Titanic will make around $19 million.

Hunger Games Wins Third Friday

The Hunger Games won its third Friday in a row, defeating American Reunion and Titanic.

"Beating back a 3D reissue and the fourth installment of a popular comedy franchise, Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games” took its third consecutive Friday at the domestic B.O. with $12.9 million.
Down only about 30% from last Friday, the boffo actioner should cross the $300 million mark in its Stateside cume this frame.
Universal’s “American Reunion” opened to $9.2 million Friday for second. Coming 13 years after the original installment, “Reunion” is looking to land around $22 million through Sunday — a figure made more impressive by the fact that the Easter holiday weekend is better known for holding up family fare than R-rated laffers."
I'm going to see Hunger Games again this weekend! How about you?
